LCSR Station Activity Survey:
1. Describe your overall goals and approach to address identified community issues, needs, and interests through your station’s vital local services, such as multiplatform long and short-form content, digital and in-person engagement, education services, community information, partnership support, and other activities, and audiences you reached or new audiences you engaged.
KUHB-FM is owned and operated by The Pribilof School District. We are a sole service station located in the middle of the Bering Sea (Alaska). We strive to keep our community informed of severe weather conditions, All school information and community information. We are a small station and we have an open door policy. Every time we crack open the mic we try to do our best to serve our community. Everything from serious news to broadcasting school plays, graduation, Tribal and City Council meetings. We also push our signal over the internet so family members off island can hear what's going on. Winter weather is a huge issue we discuss everyday on the radio. We talk about everything local that is going on everyday. All Thanks in big part to CPB funding. Without CPB funding we would most likely not be here.
2. Describe key initiatives and the variety of partners with whom you collaborated, including other public media outlets, community nonprofits, government agencies, educational institutions, the business community, teachers and parents, etc. This will illustrate the many ways you’re connected across the community and engaged with other important organizations in the area.
We work hand in hand with KSKA, APRN and most other public radio stations across Alaska and some in the lower 48. Being a small sole service station for St. Paul and St. George Islands we work very closely with our local Public Safety Office, City Office Tribal Government Office, School and every other entity on the Islands.
3. What impact did your key initiatives and partnerships have in your community? Describe any known measurable impact, such as increased awareness, learning or understanding about particular issues. Describe indicators of success, such as connecting people to needed resources or strengthening conversational ties across diverse neighborhoods. Did a partner see an increase in requests for related resources? Please include direct feedback from a partner(s) or from a person(s) served.

4. Please describe any efforts (e.g. programming, production, engagement activities) you have made to investigate and/or meet the needs of minority and other diverse audiences (including, but not limited to, new immigrants, people for whom English is a second language and illiterate adults) during Fiscal Year 2021, and any plans you have made to meet the needs of these audiences during Fiscal Year 2022. If you regularly broadcast in a language other than English, please note the language broadcast.
We work closely with our local medical clinic. We don't have full time medical People like Dentist, Diabetes specialists, women's health professional, et. Our local Tribal Government brings in medical professionals to hold health clinics through out the year. We work closely to get the word out when a medical professional will be on island. Virtually the entire island has a radio on through out the day and they rely on us to put the word out.
5. Please assess the impact that your CPB funding had on your ability to serve your community. What were you able to do with your grant that you wouldn't be able to do if you didn't receive it?
We are the only radio station on the Pribilof Islands. Internet is still very slow and spotty. We are owned by a School District, but we also act as the local community station. We would not be able to be here without CPB funding. We are able to inform our community about everything from weather, jobs available to what the kids are going to have for a snack tomorrow. On the Pribilof Islands KUHB is a big part of the community and we will continue to be with the help from CPB. School Districts across the country are losing funding and without CPB our small (very important) station would not be here.
