Until May 31st, Tribal and Federal Law does not restrict human access to rookeries and haul outs, however, it is against Tribal and Federal law to disturb marine mammals. *Be considerate before accessing a rookery and potentially causing a disturbance that may force the seals into the water before they are ready to depart. Females and their pups still utilize the rookeries and haul outs during the fall months. *Beachcombers take into consideration whether accessing a rookery is necessary. Hunters, please consider different approaches to access sea lions to minimize disturbance. Firearms being discharged over a rookery may lead to permanent departure of females before they are ready. **NOAA Enforcement will be patrolling the rookeries for human disturbance of marine mammals. Contact ECO at 615-5306 if you are uncertain about rookery access, disturbance regulations or have any questions.
